Hey everyone. I have a new pattern this week. A very easy one. I have been wanting to create something like this for a very long time.... so now here it is:
And I think the backside looks just as good:
The yarn I used for this little project was Eco fil by Easy Knit. It is a recycled Cotton yarn. It's content is 75% Recycled Cotton/25% Acrylic.
I liked the fact that it has recycled fibres in it. Anything to try to be a little more ecologically sensitive. The textile industry hasn't exactly been know for it's 'greenness"!! I haven't been able to find any info on this yarn. But it was a good price. $2.99 for 100g. Usually I don't buy yarn at Big Box stores but I happened to be at Zeller's and I thought I would give this yarn a chance.
Since this project is one that will be used for cleaning- I wasn't overly concerned about the "hand" or the feel of the yarn. It has a stiffer hand than most cottons I have knit with but that gives it a good firmness for the cloth in my opinion.
When knitting with it, it tends to twist a little- the yarn coming off the ball that is. But I just kept pushing the twist away and knit away I did. That was the only annoying thing about it. Other than that I like how it knit into a dishcloth. Not sure I would make a garment with it- but I might. I really liked the colours- of course I chose Red, White and Blue!! It does come in a few more colours- green, purple and gray-I think!! knit 2 different versions of the cloth- one with a Garter Stitch edge, the other version with a Seed Stitch edge
The pattern for this dishcloth can be found on Ravelry and Scribd. If you have any questions about the pattern or the yarn- don't hesitate to drop me a line.
That's it for now
Have a great day everyone.
