BOLTON LANTERN

Hey Everyone!  I am having a huge case of the wants.  I mean....really want.  The thing that I am desiring at the moment is the following little item:

Pottery Barn

Just look at how handsome Bolton is!!  I would love to provide him with a new home.  And his price isn't too bad either--- $514.63.

I saw Bolton in an amazing kitchen and it got me thinking how amazing he would look over my island.  Especially since I have oil rubbed bronze accents that would make him feel right at home.  Here is that lovely kitchen:

Look at how lovely Bolton looks in this kitchen.  Makes me want to paint my cabinets a lovely gray.  The gray used on these cabinets was Valspar's Montpelier Ashtar Gray.  Gotta love those Marble Counters as well. And of course subway tile is always a classic.  Such an amazing Kitchen reno.

BROWN AND PINK

I have always loved brown and pink......  There is just something so yummy about it!!

I was putting one of my hand made fan decks way when it fell open onto Gray Earth.  Well I fell in love with that colour. It is the most amazing dark brown ever.  It is chalky, it is grayed down and creamy smooth all at the same time.  It reminds me of a Dark French Gray.  So I looked through the other colours and thought that Deep Pink 6 and Raw Linen would look great with it.  And it does.  I would love to have a room with these 3 colours in it.

END OF SUMMER UPDATE

OK........So I haven't painted upstairs yet!!  ARGH!!!  Normally I am very quick at doing these things but summer and the boys have gotten in the way.  In a good way of course!!  When they go back to school I am going to tuck in and get the upstairs done, the main bath, continue on with my knitting patterns.  I have no less than 3 patterns on the go.

Here is the colour I am thinking for the main bath:

Aqua Frost WV35007  Waverly Valspar

So this past week I had put up a bunch of paint chips in the bathroom and independently my hubs and myself picked the same chip.  So.... since it was quite unanimous.... Aqua Frost it shall be.  It is a great clean aquaeey blue.  It is by Waverly for Valspar. So I am going to be putting accents of navy and red in there with it.  Stay tuned for that.


Here is what the Bathroom looks like currently- not professional shots or anything.  Just Real Life!!

It is really small.  But it works!  We renovated it ourselves 8 years ago when we moved in.  Took it right down to the studs.  What a HOT MESS that was.  Ever have a brown toilet, sink and tub?  I mean, even in it's day it wouldn't have looked good!!  Makes you think, "What were they thinking?"  We have our Master upstairs that is a 3 piece.  That will be next on the list-Budget allowing of course!!  Do you see my Chenille Shower Curtain?  I have had that thing for 12 years!!  Crazy I know!  I bought it at Winner's (like a Marshall's).  It has washed amazingly well, held up to abuse and generally just looks as awesome as the day I bought it.  I will be keeping it but I may be trying a navy and white one in there.  Will have to wait and see.
I am currently working a a few knitting patterns as well.  More to follow tomorrow!!

BLUE BEADBOARD CEILINGS

Nothing finishes off a room like being creative with the ceiling.  The ceiling. That "5th" wall that seems to be forgotten or neglected by so many.  I love the idea of having something decorative on the ceiling.  One of my favourite is bead board on the ceiling.  But what I truly love is Blue Bead board on the ceiling.  It combines two of my favourite things - the colour blue and bead board.  Having blue on the ceiling isn't for every one, but, I just love it.  All that watery blue over your head.  It just makes me smile.  If only I could get rid of the popcorn ceiling in a couple of my rooms and I would so be painting watery blue up there.

This kitchen comes close to perfection as you can get for me.  And I love, love the ceiling.  So amazing that they chose to go "there".  It just adds so much to this already amazing space!  And don't get me started on that crewel fabric on those chairs!!

NAVY, MINT/AQUA AND RED

I happened upon a posting yesterday here.  It talks of Navy, Mint and Red.  Then it dawned on me, "That's my house too!"  I mean, I knew my house had those colours but it really hit home to see those words elsewhere.  And it made me think!  Where else are those colours?  I think they happen to look awesome together.  That's why I am doing them in my home.  You have seen a few pics I have posted for the living room and the dining room.  Here are a couple of refresher photos of those rooms and a few new little snapshots of Navy, Mint and Red from around the house.

You can just make out the wall colour in the kitchen - the lovely "Morning Jog" by Valspar - a lovely minty greeney blue.  And you can also just make out a corner of the island through the white chair - a lovely navy - "Mariner" by Martha Stewart.  And of course we have the Red of the dining room - "Hottie" by Para.  The funny thing is, I fought my INSTINCTS for so long about putting some sort of blue in the living room and kitchen.  Yet, it is the most perfect colour I have EVER put there!!

Again, here is the Living Room in "Morning Jog" by Valspar.  Can't say enough about this colour!!
