NEW SCARF PATTERN

Hey Everyone- just a quick posting today.....  It is finally finished!  I am not sure why it took me so long. I would knit it and then another idea would pop into my head and I would work on that and so on...... However, I am really pleased with how it turned out.  Here is the new scarf:

I wanted to incorporate both some lace work and cables again.  I really like this pattern because even though it looks complicated it isn't really.  I find myself really drawn to the finer gauge knitting projects lately.  Maybe it's because there isn't any out there.  I also love it when there is a vintagy vibe to the projects.

I used Patons Lace again using 2.75mm needles.  I find it knits up really nicely and really complements this style of  pattern.  It has such nice stitch definition but yet has a fuzziness to it.  Perfect for this type of project.  I find that using this gauge of yarn 26-30sts/4", it alllows me to add in a lot of detail.  Love it!!    I will be sourcing out a new yarn with the next one I am currently hammering out. Maybe Regia Angora Merino???
The colourway for this scarf is Mystic Teal.  It is such a pretty colour.  Info on the yarn can be found here.
I had to buy 2 balls of the yarn but ended up only using about 15-20g of the second ball.  The finished dimensions were 7" x 66".  But you could certainly make the scarf much longer.....These are the final measurements AFTER blocking.  You really do have to block this scarf in order for the meandering lacey "cable" to stand out.  That is the great thing about this type of lacework it gives the impression of a cable yet it is just YO's, SSK and K2Tog- awesome.  Although you will have to do regular cabling with the "baby" cable.  There is just something about fine little cables that I just love!

I will be loading the pattern on Ravelry today and will be available for $3.99.

Now that that is done it is on to the next one.......

Have a great day everyone!

THE GRAYS!

Hey Everyone!  As I talked about a little while ago it is time for me to get my butt in gear and freshen up my Master Bedroom!  Only been talking about it for a year!! ARGH!!  At first I had wanted to paint the walls Light Blue by Farrow and Ball.  But now I want to go in a slightly different direction and do a very pale gray.  It will look really nice with all the navy I want to work with!

I have a couple of grays in mind:

Benjamin Moore: Intense White OC-51

Benjamin Moore: Paper White OC-55

Benjamin Moore: Wickham Gray HC-171

I love Intense White- for me it is that perfect gray without a green, purple, overly blue or pink undertone to it.   Paper White is so lovely and light as well but with a bluer undertone.  Wickham Gray is also a great neutral gray in that it does not have a green, or brown undertone to it.  To me it would tend to go towards more of a blue if I had to pick an undertone-but it is still very neutral.

Here is some examples of these great grays.

Wickham Gray HC-171

So there you have it.  I am going to get testers so that I can be sure that I am picking the right gray with the right undertone to it.
Will keep you all posted.
Have a great day everyone!

MODERN WHITE KITCHEN AND OTHER EYE CANDY!

Hey Everyone!  I came across a modern kitchen recently.  Usually I am a very traditional kinda girl.  However, a kitchen such as the one I am going to show could push me over to the other side of design.  What got me thinking of this kitchen is the fact that it made me think of one of my dearest friends.  I am hoping that she will have a reno in her future- at least she is talking about it.  What made me think of her with this amazing reno was the dining table with the Eames chairs and the great chandelier.  Enjoy:

This amazing dining table is what made me think of her.  I love the mix of the rustic table with the modern Eames chairs.  And that chandelier!!  LOVE IT!!  The wall colour is White Dove OC-17 B/M.  That is one of my favourite whites as I have mentioned in the past.  It is one of those whites that looks amazing on Cabinets, Walls or Trim.  It is so versatile.  What makes it so versatile is that it isn't too cold, isn't too warm and doesn't scream an obvious undertone like say Cloud White, which so happens to be one of least favourite whites!!  To me Cloud White has been so overused in such a wrong way.  Forever it was the "go to white".  It's undertone (orangey) is just plain wrong for so many people.  It is way too creamy for most applications.  Especially in today's use of grays and blues.  You are much better off with Chantilly Lace, Decorators White, or White Dove.  I AM SO OVER CLOUD WHITE!!!
Anyhoooo........ The above Sergei chandelier can be seen here.  And the Eames chairs can be seen here.

As I said I am not normally a modern style kind of girl.  But this so so lovely.  I love the clean lines.  I especially love the waterfall treatment of the island-that is when the counter top material envelops the top and sides as shown above.  I love the metal stools- very retro and I love the lights over the island.  I just absolutely love this space.

This amazing space was created by Barlow Reid Design Inc.  And here is a few other pics from Barlow Reid:

You should check out the website for some other amazing rooms.  And the great thing is this great design firm is in Toronto- yea Canada!!!

Anyways....I hope this has provided a little eye candy for today.  Have an amazing day everyone.

RED AND WHITE KITCHEN LOVE!

Hey everyone!  Just a very quick posting today.  I came across a great kitchen on Houzz.  And you know how much I love the colour red.....

It is quite obvious that the colour inspiration came from that amazing stove!  I love this red!! Will have to find out the exact colour!!

Don't you just want to pull up a chair and hang out in here?  I love so many things about this space..... the two toned cabinetry, the limestone floor, the farm sink, the bridge faucet and of course that amazing stove!

Hope you enjoyed a little inspiration for today!
Have a great day everyone.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.......

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days!  I have been busy and not so busy.  Will do better-promise.  I have been working very hard at a couple of projects ie: knitting stuff, thinking of doing the upstairs/back hall and of course our Master- which was supposed to have been started this time last year-ARGH!!!!!

So here are a few pics of bedrooms that are inspiring me:  I have no bloody idea which way I will go.  It is SO MUCH HARDER WORKING FOR ONESELF THAN WORKING FOR ANOTHER PERSON.  I am sure that those of you out there that look at many blogs have heard this before.  I can tell a client exactly what they should do in their space.  When it comes to my space-UGH!!  I think it is because I see SO MANY possibilities that I can do.  JUST PICK ONE!!!!

Anyways.........

This is soooo pretty.......

I am really loving all the gray right now.  I didn't think those words would come out of my mouth!!

Hope this gives a little inspiration.
Have a great day everyone.  And I promise to be back to my old self soon.... although my youngest one would say to that...."your not old Mama".  I love him so!

SILK HEADBOARD AND WHAT NOT TA! MAYBE??

Hey Everyone..... I came across an amazing house at Home Bunch.  It is very visually stunning.  And WAY out of my snack bracket!  What I wanted to share with you all is this bed:

Although very lovely and very riche.  It is so NOT practical.  Most of us live in the real world and I just wanted to bring a little of my experience with fabrics to you all so that you will not make a mistake if you too want this look.
The fabric used on the bed headboard is 100% Silk.  So very luxurious and so amazing.  It is from Kravet and is called Serenity.  It is presented in the Graystone Colourway.  Absolutely STUNNING fabric.  However.....This fabric is best suited to VERY and I mean VERY light use. Use such as pillows and drapes that would be lined and interlined within an inch of its life!  I don't know about you but my headboard takes a beating.  Some people and my husband is one of them tends to sleep with his hands above his head-as does his father.  This would cause pulls and picks in this fabric.  In addition, he tends to have a little extra sebum in his hair.  That sebum tends to cause yellowing of pillow cases and the headboard.  I know some will think Ewwww...but really it is REAL LIFE.  Therefore, when we chose a headboard we have to keep that in mind.  So I hope that this will make a few of you out there think before you leap.  Yes this bed is GORGEOUS but will it fit into your lifestyle.  A lot of the time we really have to think with our head and not our hearts.  Reality really sucks sometimes.
Please head over to Home Bunch to see the rest of this amazing home as well as some other incredible homes and interiors.

If it were me I would always cover a headboard in a very hard wearing fabric such as Velvet or a Heavy Cotton.  I live in a very "washable" world so could NEVER imagine having a Silk Headboard.  I know that people do all the time- has anyone had one and did it stand up to the tests of time?  One note about silk bedding too.... again one has to think about the practically of a duvet cover or blanket.  These items will have to be cleaned.  IF and I stress IF you don't mind Dry Cleaning these items then by all means buy away.  I am one of those people that hasn't used a Dry Cleaner in like.... I can't remember the last time I did!  I need to have Cotton myself.  If your lovely Silk Duvet accidentally gets machine washed and I know someone this happened too be prepared to have thrown a lot of money away.  Life happens all the time and you have to think will this Silk Duvet fit into that life...just a little advise.

Have a great day everyone.

CRAFTSMAN STYLE HOME & WYTHE BLUE HC-143

Hey Everyone...A while back I did a posting on Bookcase Dividers here.  One of those amazing Bookcase Dividers was part of an incredible house.  The house both inside and out is all Craftsman Inspired.  Now originally a true Craftsman house was very dark and full of wood.  The now updated version of this style includes a lot of White Trim as well.  I think this really helps to lighten up the "true" classic Craftsman style.

I wanted to share with you some pics of an amazing house. It was built by Moore Architects. Here is the rest of that house:

The Exterior Colours are as follows- all Sherwin Williams:

Trim including Eaves:

Downing Sand SW 2822 (Semi Gloss)

Cedar Shingles:

Downing Earth SW 2820 (Flat)

Stucco:

Downing Earth SW 2820 (Semi Gloss)

Windows:

Polished Mahogany SW 2838 (Semi Gloss)

Paint Colour for Kitchen and Hallway:
Benjamin Moore; Adam's Gold HC-18

Paint Colour for Living Room and Office:

Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue HC-143

Sorry I don't have any info on the paint for this bathroom.  But if I do find it out I will update.  As well I do not know what colour they used for the trim.  If it were me I would probably use either White Dove or Simply White.  But maybe in the future we can find out what colour they used.

You can see why I was smitten with this house.

One source you may want to try to buy Craftsman style lighting is:

1.  Rejuvenation:

$185.00

1.  Rejuvenation:

$205.00

1.  Rejuvenation:

$355.00

So there you have it a little inspiration for Fri.

Have a great weekend everyone.
